Impediogender is a gender which is usually subdued or silent, but becomes more intense whenever it is challenged and/or when one is in a situation where their gender makes things more difficult. For example one might be non-binary, but only feel it mildly, but if one is given a form where they have to check ‘male’ or ‘female’, one's feelings of non-binaryness spike up.
History
Impediogender was coined on or before October 20, 2014 by Tumblr user Thejadedjester through the blog mogai-archive[1].
Etymology
Impedio- comes from the Latin word meaning 'hinder' or 'obstruct'.
