Hypogonadism is a rare intersex variation that leads to reduction in the functionality of one's gonads, whether it be testes, ovaries, or ovotestes, leading to a reduction or complete block in production of sex hormones such as testosterone or estrogen.[1]
The main variations that fall under this umbrella are AFAB Hypogonadism and AMAB Hypogonadism.
Causes
This variation can be caused by multiple different conditions. These usually include the underdevelopment of glands, gland tumors, radiation issues that effected the glands, gland injury and gland infection, nutritional problems, high prolactin level, chronic illnesses, and medical conditions such as iron overload.
This variation can also be caused by severe stress or drug use, however those are the 'less natural' causes of it.
