The Disaligned Gender Spectrum is a variety of terms specific to headmates within a system who are of a differing gender in the innerworld than the body. There are a variety of sub-labels within the Disaligned Gender Spectrum. This may cause confusion to those who question the headmate's gender, as it may be complicated to explain to singlets.
Examples of sub-labels include:
- A cisgender man whose innerworld body is male, and in the outer world they are in an transgender male body. Calling themselves a cis man would cause confusion to those who know they are AFAB and/or transgender, since their inner identity and how they view themselves doesn't align with how they may present. In this case, the label of Disaligned cisgender male may apply best.
- A nonbinary transgender person whose innerworld body presents as female, and in the outer world their body is that of a cisgender woman could use the label of Disaligned nonbinary.
- A transgender man whose innerworld body is AFAB but has transitioned, whose outerworld body is that of a transgender woman could use the label of Disaligned transgender.
The Disaligned Gender Spectrum has a multitude of other microlabels, and is able to be readily tailored to the needs of any system member. Examples can include, but are not limited to:
- Disaligned Nonhuman
- Disaligned Xenogender
- Disaligned Agender
- Disaligned Nonconforming
History
This term was coined by Discord user Para#0013 on February 28th, 2022, with the advice and guidance of a member of a close system.
Etymology
The term comes from the latin prefix dis, meaning incorrect, and align, or to match the behaviour, thoughts, etc, of another person.
Flag
The flag was designed by Discord user Para#0013 on the date of the term's conception, and consists of a pride flag with it's stripes disaligned at an angle.
