Demixenogender (also known as demix) is a gender in which one is partially, but not fully any given xenogender. One may or may not identify as another gender in addition to identifying as partially any given xenogender. Demigender individuals may also identify as non-binary. Some may feel that they are partially more than one xenogender.
The feminine counterpart is demigirl, the masculine counterpart is demiboy, the non-binary counterpart is deminonbinary, the neutral counterpart is demineutrois, and the agenrine counterpart is demiagender.
History and Flags
Demixenogender was origionally coined by Tumblr user the-gender-collector-emself, February 11th, 2020, who suggested the alternate name "demix" for the term. The demixenogender flag was created by the same user on the same date. The-gender-collector-emself's post has since been deleted and their blog is no longer available, so the post now only exists in the form of reblogs. This original coining post did not contain a definition, however, it can be assumed that it was intended to reference the demigender form of xenogender.
The term was also later defined/recoined by Tumblr user idvault on November 16th, 2020, who described demixenogender as: "when one partially or semi-identifies as any given xenogender. They may feel like their xenogender is only partially there, or that it does not fit them enough to be fully worth identifying as. Any reason works, so long as it’s partial. It can be a modifier as well for xenogenders, such as demigenderapianum or other examples."
An alternate demixenogender flag was created by user PuffballisAwesome on February 17th, 2021.
