Arogender is a gender that is connected to or is heavily influenced by one being aromantic or aro-spec. Arogender be used by itself or with any other label. For example, one can identify just as arogender or one could identify as an arogender demiboy. This could mean one's aro-spec identity influenced their feelings, or influenced that choice of label, or that the demiboy label alone doesn’t quite explain their gender identity, and one feels it's also important for others to know that their gender feelings are influenced by their aro-spec identity.
History
The term arogender was coined by Tumblr user Arokaladin on April 16, 2018 after the term was suggested by two anonymous asks.[1]
Flag
The arogender flag was designed as a collaborative effort from Tumblr users Aroacearborvitae, Aromagni, and Arokaladin, and was posted on April 24, 2018. The color correspondences are as follows: green for aromanticism, it is at the top because of its importance to the gender; blue for masculinity; purple for non-binary individuals; pink for femininity; white for a lack of gender, or agender individuals. White is also a color for the aromantic flag, in addition to green.[2]
