Arcadegender is an aesthetigender that is related to arcadecore and flashy colors. This includes arcade games, aesthetics, lightings, sounds, music, etc. One may feel as though their gender in of itself is an arcade, or they may feel as though their gender fits best within an arcade. They may also feel connected to the bright patterns on the carpets, the fluorescent lights in some arcades, or the freedom they were given with the money that had to be split between food and change for the arcade machines.

Arcadegender people that have anxiety or are neurodivergent may also feel connected to the joysticks and buttons on the machines, which they may like to fidget/stim with.

    History

Arcadegender was coined by Twitter user @Cactusgarbaage on the 9th of September, 2020, due to surprise that the gender did not already exist. [1]

    Flags

The first flag was made by Twitter user @Cactusgarbaage on the 9th of September, 2020. The shapes represent the designs normally seen on arcade carpets.[1] The dark purple represents the dark background of arcade carpets, the yellow represents coins and tokens, the red represents joysticks, buttons, controllers, and cabinets, and the blue represents the vaporwave aesthetic of classic arcades.

The second flag was made by Twitter user @XENODEER on the 3rd of June, 2021.[2] The dark blue stripe represents the darkness of arcades, the blue represents the blue lighting in arcades, the pink represents the glowing effect in arcades and the middle stripe represents the patterns on arcade carpets. This flag can be used by any gender identity or sexuality, but was asked to be "preferably kept with neurodivergent people".

An alternative version of this flag was made by the same user on the 24th of October, 2021.[3] This version was made exclusively for autistic people, and cannot be used by allistics/non-autistic people.
