    The alterpronominal flag[1]

Alterpronouns or inconsistent pronoun is when one uses alternating pronouns, changes preference in pronouns, wants different pronouns used at different times, or has pronouns that change with a fluid gender, etc. It is similar to pronounfluid, however it may be considered different depending on the person. Some (but not all) ways it could be different includes:

    • Someone who is pronounless in some situations, however uses one set of pronouns in others. This is different than pronounfluid in the fact that one is not fluid between pronouns, but rather only ever uses pronouns in certain cases.
    • Someone who feels as though their preference in pronouns fluctuates rather than fluidly changes.
    • Someone who feels as though they simply swap pronouns rather than fluidly goes between them. They may never use the same set of pronouns twice, or may very rarely use the same set as in their past.[2][3][4]

    History

The term and flag were coined by a Tumblr user who wishes to remain anonymous.

The color white stands for fluidity. The green and pink stand for (in order) gender neutrality and femininity. Blue stands for both masculinity.
