Affiliative Genders, also known as Affinitive Genders, is a term used when describing genders. It is an umbrella term for any genders that describes what they feel like. This can include explaining how it is (or is not) related to masculinity, femininity, neutrality, etc. or (in the case of xenogenders) explaining the concepts or feeling that one's experiences when they have this gender. Affilative genders are opposed to amative genders. It can be thought of as the gender analog to affinitive orientations.
Examples of affiliative genders include binary man/woman, non-binary, neutrois, maverique, agender, juparian, cenrell, jouine, icecreamgender, and all coric genders.
History
The term affiliative genders was coined by Chaoticcylinder (gendertherapist) on August 25, 2020[1]. It was originally named affinitive genders, as a direct parallel to affinitive orientations. It was later renamed to affiliative genders, as the term affinitive genders was already coined, meaning something different. Affiliative genders comes from the word affiliation.
